Frequently Asked Questions

  • No, absolutely not. After your consultation, there may be lots of reasons why you decide not to go ahead. It may be that you don't feel we are the right therapists to help you. It may not feel like the right time for you to have therapy, or it could be that CBT doesn't feel quite right for you.

You may want to have a consultation with another therapist, and that is OK! You are about to invest in your child/yourself, and you want to ensure you have found someone who you and your child can click with, and who makes you feel hopeful that they can help you.

  • We offer an initial free 15-minute consultation.

Each session after your consultation costs £85.

Once a session has been booked you will receive an email confirmation of the date/time of your session along with the video link, the second email is a digital invoice. We ask for invoices to be paid before the session occurs.

Alternatively, payments can be made via BACS. We require payment 48 hours before each session to secure this time for you.

  • Typically sessions last for 50-60 minutes.

  • Appointments start off weekly, which helps us to develop a trusting therapeutic relationship, to explore your situation in more detail and to learn strategies to improve how you feel.

If you are having CBT; as your treatment progresses and you start to understand yourself and how to use CBT more, we can increase the time between your appointments. We can discuss this further and make a plan that works for you once you have started working with us.

  • If you are looking to find a therapist or book an appointment for your child, we usually ask that at least one parent/carer will join us for the first session. Though this is not a necessity for our older young people.

Depending on the difficulties you are experiencing at this time, we may draw on support from parents/carers who can often play a vital role in helping you to overcome your challenges. Although this can be agreed when we work together. We would not want this to be a barrier for any young person accessing therapy.

Gillick competency is often used in a wider context to help assess whether a child has the maturity to make their own decisions and to understand the implications of those decisions.

  • Yes; as we are fully accredited psychotherapist’s you can be guaranteed that we respect the confidentiality of our clients. As part of our NMC code of conduct and our BABCP code of conduct we are duty-bound to uphold the highest standards of confidentiality.

Please also see our privacy policies for more detailed information on how your data is stored and secured.

  • This completely depends on what your current difficulties and therapeutic goals are. At the end of our assessment period, we will have an idea of how many sessions are needed to help you reach your goals from therapy. Most of our clients find that between 12 and 16 sessions is more than enough to help them. Others may require only 6. However, some benefit from a longer course of treatment.

  • Yes, we are registered with a limited number of health insurance companies. Please message us directly and have your membership and claim number to hand so we can check how many sessions have been preauthorised.

  • If you cancel a session in advance we can re-arrange this, however short-term cancellations (i.e. less than 48 hours before your appointment time) will be charged at the full session rate (£85). The reason for this is that appointments cannot be rebooked at such short notice. We cannot book a new appointment in until the missed appointment has been paid for.

  • We try to offer flexible appointment slots for you in and around your education or work commitments. When you get in touch with us we can discuss this during your free consultation.

  • No, unfortunately at present we are not able to offer face to face appointments.

  • At the moment we are only taking clients from the UK.

  • Your care will always remain under your GP. You will receive an end of treatment letter which you may choose to share with your GP/school or any other health professionals, with your consent of course.

Any other reports/letters/forms will be agreed at your therapists discretion and will be chargeable.
